This Viognier is a perfect example of why this grape, once nearly extinct, is staging such a strong comeback around the world. Expressive and rich on the nose, a creamy melon aroma is accentuated by kiwi and tiny hints of herbaceousness that keep the mind engaged. Surprisingly tropical on the palate, this wine brings waves of honeydew, papaya and guava with a velvety smooth mouthfeel and soft acidity.
A native of the northern Rhône Valley of France, Viognier is one of the most aromatic of all the white varieties, often described as ‘exotic’ or ‘heady’. It is quickly becoming the darling of the New World wine areas and has found a home right here in Temecula. Sometimes fermented in oak, we decided to use stainless steel in order to let the wonderful rich fruit character prevail.
