Syrah Private Reserve 2018

Tired from his seemingly endless journey, the wounded Crusader willed himself to the top of the small rolling hill. Gazing down the winding Rhone River he saw a huge, rock studded hill in the distance. Nodding, he thought, that will be my place, my Hermitage.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Powerful aromas of dark black cherry, black pepper, and garrigue. From the first taste flavors of cola and tart blackberry coat the palate and express this wine as very full-bodied.
Winemaker Notes
The wounded Crusader, a knight by the name of Gaspard de Sterimberg, returned badly wounded from his long battle. Seeking to live out his remaining days in peace as a hermit, he requested, and was granted what is now the entire hill of Hermitage, named for his retreat. This single site grows some of the greatest Syrah in the world, a trend de Sterimberg is believed to have begun in the 13th century. Our Reserve Syrah is reminiscent of the great wines of Hermitage, showing a dark and brooding color, richly tannic, this is a wonderful candidate for extended cellaring.
Food Pairing Notes
An appropriate complement to roasted pork loin, Santa Maria rub tri-tip or glazed ribs.
