Red Bordeaux 2014
The dense fog hung heavily in the air as the small wooden boat rocked and bobbed in the turbulent waves. The crew was weary, their arms sore from the constant pumping of the bilge, always filling with the persistent sea. In the misty distance, a small speck of light appeared and began to grow more defined as the boat drew closer. “Land Ho!” yelled the excited navigator. The crew all cheered and waved their weary arms, much red wine would soon slake the thirst of their voyage.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Dark and brooding in color, we see an explosion of blackberry, tar, crushed rocks, and charcoal on the nose. Complex and full of flavor, the palate delivers a classic and elegant Bordeaux experience defined by youthful but smooth tannins, blackberry jam, and woodsmoke. A great cellar candidate but drinking beautifully now.
Production Notes
The selection of the plots, the work in the vines, the knowledge of blending, the mastering of the vinification, contribute to the exceptional quality of this wine. Aged 24 months in French oak.
Winemaker Notes
Bordeaux is a unique geographical region defined by the influence of the Atlantic Ocean and stately Garonne and Dordogne rivers which seafaring access convenient. Sailors from Britain began bringing home casks (and later individual bottles) of the delicious local wines they referred to as Claret starting more than eight hundred years ago. We have selected an example that we believe heralds the culmination of those hundreds of years of consistent quality. Grown on limestone and clay soils, this classic blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc spent 24 months maturing in fine French oak before being bottled and cellared to the perfect point of development we see now.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine is long on the finish and begs for an appropriately juicy Porterhouse steak to match its intensity.
