Aromas of dark cherries, leather and cocoa powder; the entrance on the palate is soft with a warming sensation that persists long after sipping.
The Sangiovese grapes grown here in our estate vineyards always deliver a memorable wine and 2014 was an outstanding growing season. We farm all of our vineyards to low yields which produces a much higher quality grape. We handpicked the fruit and then sorted the best clusters to make this distinct, stand-alone wine. Initially fermented in open-top stainless steel then underwent malolactic and an initial aging for 18 months in 20% new oak. The wine was then transferred to neutral oak for an additional two years of aging.
Food Pairing Notes
This is a wonderful wine to enjoy all by itself but pairs wonderfully with all sorts of Italian dishes. The wine’s vibrant acidity and solid tannins make it a good match with rare steaks, roasted game birds, rich chicken or mushroom dishes, or anything with tomato sauce!
