Complex aromas of ripe red fruits, black pepper, chestnut honey, and a faint memory of anise. The palate is clean, balanced, and elegant offering mixed-berry jam, tobacco and leather, with an explosion of spices racing alongside vibrant tannins. This is a wine built to last. Intense red color with light shades of purple. A full and persistent finish that puts the Tuscan terroir front and center.
The vineyard is southwest facing to maximize the sun’s nutrients and the grapes are grown on 110R rootstock in mixed sandy clay soil. Yields reduced for quality produced 2.7 tons of fruit per acre that was harvested by hand in late-September.
A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. This is what a “Super Tuscan” is all about – blending the primary native Italian grape with star varietals of France. This Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) wine is made in Maremma, Italy by Paolo Caciorgna, the acclaimed Tuscan enologist who makes wines for stellar estates like Montalcino’s Altesino and La Serena as well as for music stars Sting and Andrea Bocelli. The Maremma territory extends past the borders and Tuscany into Latium with testimonies of a majestic and grand Etruscan past.
