Tasting Notes
Showing a beautiful midnight plum color, this carefully selected blend presents aromas of wet stone, blackberry, and toasted oak. On the palate, it is balanced, with dark fruits and a slight meatiness leading into a long finish with soft but persistent tannin.
Winemaker Notes
Bordeaux, the region home to the varieties used in our Grand Mélange, was only made plausible as a high-quality winegrowing region due to the efforts of the Dutch. In the 16th and 17th centuries they built small dams and pumping stations to drain the marshes that had stretched across much of Bordeaux. This enabled the development of the vineyards now esteemed as some of the finest in the world.
