The stillness had been the order of the day, with a clear sky and no noise but for an occasional wave hitting a distant shoreline. Just as he reached to reel in the line and resign himself to a bland evening repast, the tip of the pole bent forcefully down. Snatching the rod, he grinned widely and began to reel in his catch. Looking down at the bottle of white wine tucked into his worn leather satchel, he smiled and thought, “My friend, you will have a partner at the table tonight!”
