Verdejo Reserve 2019

The vines moved with the wind, leaves dancing as the sun set over the vineyards. A cool wind blew through the valley as fog beckoned from the surrounding hilltops. The evening would come soon, allowing the busy vines a rest before they began their daily ritual of ripening their precious bunches of grapes.

Tasting Notes
Enchanting aromas of fresh vanilla blossom, woven through waves of lychee and touches of coconut deliver an unforgettable entrée for the lucky individual tasting this wine. On the palate, the vanilla notes continue with soft vanilla cream and mascarpone playing off a bright, quince like acidity.

Winemaker Notes
Verdejo does represent a rather precious grape in California as it is quite uncommon. Outside its native home of Rueda, in northern central Spain, this grape was almost unheard of until the 1980s, when a few Spanish winemakers took the risk to put these ancestral grapes through modern winemaking processes to produce some amazing dry, white table wines. When you taste this reserve example you know they were vindicated.
Food Pairing Notes
A deliciously complex wine that is a perfect choice for pollo en pepitoria (chicken in almond sauce).
