Rioja Reserva 2017
The earth surrounding the old vines was red, not with anger, but with love…
Magellan Price: $63.00
Showing a unique combination of floral, earth, and smoked meat notes on the palate, this is a traditional style of the old world that seems to channel the feel of the vineyard into the bottle. On the palate, the long maturation process is on full display, with dried plum and wild herb flavors winding down into beautifully polished tannins.
70% American oak and 30% French oak
Rioja is a fascinating wine region and one of the main inspirations for the creation of Europa Village. It’s the heart of viticulture in Spain, with ancestral origins, it was the first region to have a controlled Designation of Origin. This Reserva, which by Spanish law was aged for three years before release (for this selection 24 months in fine French and American oak barrels and then for another 12 months in the bottle), is a stunning example of the possibilities of the Tempranillo and Graciano grape varieties.
Food Pairing Notes
