Celsus 2015

Bodegas Vetus Winery was born in 2003. A winery built after acquiring Camparron, the low-yielding, bush vine, centurion vineyard in the region located at Morales de Toro. The 20-hectare vineyard’s immaculate fruit is the soul of this now renowned project. This vineyard represents a tradition of Massale caretaking. Any vine deemed to be producing lower quality is uprooted and replaced by a cutting from the greatest vine within the vineyard. This assures, after 100 years that only the greatest of the greatest remain.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This wine shows explosive fruit definition and lovely control of the powerful earthy character that frequently is found in the Toro region wines. With a concentrated profile with some acidity, this wine is perfect in its youth with a medium aging capacity.

Production Notes
After the manual harvest and a double selection of the grapes, the juice was fermented in 3,000 litres tronco-conical vats and goes through a malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels in which it is aged for 14 months.
Winemaker Notes
The 2015 Celsus wine is composed of 100% Tinta de Toro grapes, (elsewhere known as Tempranillo). It shows explosive fruit definition and lovely control of the powerful earthy character that frequently is found in the Toro region wines. Celsus, Bodegas Vetus’ highest level wine, whose name translates to “Above All” is composed of grapes that come from low-yielding pre-phylloxera bush vines grown in a small 100+ year old vineyard. This royal expression from the winery is only made in the highest quality vintages. Only 2,000 bottles were made for the planet. We have acquired the ENTIRE allocation for America. The Celsus wine has always received 90+ point accolades and this extraordinary vintage is no exception.
