Complex nose of wet tobacco, leather, maraschino cherries, cola and dark chocolate. The warm, juicy mouthfeel is well balanced with good acidity, nice tannins that linger through a long finish.
This particular clone of Sangiovese (VCR-06) was specifically selected for our terroir and is grown on the south facing slopes here in our estate vineyards. The fruit was handpicked in early September with a low yield of 4.6 tons per acre. Initial fermentation in stainless steel, malolactic in oak barrels and then matured in a combination of European and American oak barrels for 15 months.
