Plums, wild mushrooms, wet forest on the nose; fleshy but also dry and refreshing on the palate.
The Malbec grape is thin-skinned and needs more sun and heat to ripen than similar varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot which makes it an ideal fit for our terroir. Malbec ripens mid-season and can bring very deep color, ample tannins, and a particular plum-like flavor to add complexity to claret blends like the red French Bordeaux blends. We picked this fruit on August 20, 2015 from an amazingly picturesque vineyard overlooking De Portola Road at the east end of the Temecula Valley. We are pleased to present Europa Village’s first of many vintages to come.
